Jebel Umm Ad Dami Day Hike
Hike to the Highest Peak in Jordan
Climb Jebel Umm Ad Dami, the highest mountain in Jordan at 1,854 m (6,083 ft). Located in the far southern region of Wadi Rum near the Saudi border, this hike combines mountain adventure with vast desert scenery and a peaceful atmosphere.
Tour Highlights
• Reach the summit of Jordan’s highest peak
• Expansive views across Wadi Rum and toward Saudi Arabia
• Quiet desert surroundings, especially at sunset
Tour Description
The day begins with a scenic one-hour 4x4 drive south through Wadi Rum’s dramatic landscape to the base of Jebel Umm Ad Dami. The hike starts in a sandy valley, passing the remains of a Nabatean dam before ascending along a rocky path toward the summit, marked by a Jordanian flag.
From the top, enjoy sweeping views over Wadi Rum, the mountains of Saudi Arabia, and on clear days, even the Red Sea in the distance. After spending time at the summit, descend back to the valley floor. Total hiking time is approximately 2–3 hours.
Following a shaded lunch break, the adventure continues by 4x4 to Wadi Sabit, where you can see ancient petroglyphs and a Bedouin cemetery. The journey then moves to the Thathaa Viewpoint to admire the striking white desert. After a stop at a traditional Bedouin cistern, the day concludes with a sunset view at Um Sabatah.
