Discover the wild beauty of southern Wadi Rum on an immersive multi-day trekking adventure. Walk through remote valleys, cross vast desert plains, and explore towering sandstone mountains while experiencing the simplicity of traditional Bedouin life. Each night is spent wild camping beneath the clear desert sky, surrounded by the silence and magic of the Wadi Rum wilderness.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Jebel Al Qattar to Al Qidr

Your journey begins at Wadi Rum Rest House, followed by a drive south to Jebel Al Qattar, a peaceful and remote area where the trek starts.

From here we walk through the beautiful White Desert landscapes toward Um Samin, where we stop for lunch in the shade. In the afternoon the trek continues through dramatic valleys and sandstone formations until reaching Al Qidr, our campsite for the night.

Relax around the campfire and enjoy dinner under the star-filled desert sky.

Day 2 — Al Qidr to Jebel Umm Ad Dami

After breakfast we begin trekking across the spectacular landscapes of Wadi Sabit, gradually heading south toward Jebel Umm Ad Dami.

We pause for lunch at a scenic midpoint before continuing across quiet desert valleys toward the base of the mountain. Our campsite for the evening is located in a peaceful area near Umm Ad Dami, offering incredible views across the surrounding desert.

Day 3 — Jebel Umm Ad Dami to Wadi Nuqra

Today we climb Jebel Umm Ad Dami (1854 m), the highest mountain in Jordan. After leaving camp, we cross the sandy valley and pass a Nabatean dam before following a rocky gully that leads to the summit trail.

From the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views stretching across Wadi Rum, Saudi Arabia, and even the distant Red Sea on clear days.

After descending, we enjoy lunch before continuing across the valley toward Wadi Nuqra, a dramatic canyon surrounded by impressive sandstone mountains.

Day 4 — Wadi Nuqra to Jebel Burdah

After breakfast we leave Wadi Nuqra and trek toward Um Amqur, walking through quiet valleys and striking rock formations.

After lunch in the shade, the route continues through a maze of sandstone landscapes until reaching the base of Jebel Burdah, home to one of Wadi Rum’s most famous natural arches.

Spend the evening relaxing by the campfire and enjoying dinner beneath the stars.

Day 5 — Burdah Arch to Al Qasiyr

On the final day we hike to Burdah Arch, where the panoramic views across Wadi Rum are truly unforgettable. The climb includes sections of light scrambling but is manageable for most hikers.

After enjoying the views and descending from the arch, we stop for a relaxing lunch before continuing through scenic valleys toward Jebel ‘Am Kharq.

A short transfer then takes us back to Wadi Rum Rest House, arriving around 3:00 PM.

Daily Distance: 10–18 km
Difficulty: Challenging

This trek requires good physical fitness and the ability to hike up to 6 hours per day across uneven desert terrain. The climb to Burdah Arch includes some scrambling sections and requires comfort with heights. Your guide will remain nearby to provide assistance and ensure your safety.

Additional Night Stay

You can extend your desert experience with an additional night before or after the trek.

Desert Camp: 25 JD per person
Under the Stars: 30 JD per person

Trek Extension

It is also possible to extend the trek by one extra day and night to explore Barrah Canyon.

After completing the fifth day, you will stay one more night in the desert before continuing the trek through the impressive canyon the following morning.

The extended trek finishes at Wadi Rum Rest House around 3 PM, making the total duration 6 Days / 5 Nights.

    The most comfortable trekking seasons are March–April and October–November.

    Daily Trekking Details
    Expect to walk 5–6 hours per day. Your luggage will be transported to the campsite by vehicle, allowing access to it overnight.
